Giuseppe Ciracì was born in Brindisi in 1975. He started his studies at the Art Secondary School “Edgardo Simone” in Brindisi and continued graduating with honors at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce. He took his first artistic steps in Apulia before moving to Milan in 2003, where he developed his research in figurative painting. Since 2007, his whole production focuses on the portrait, re - interpreted in a very personal way. His technique seems to work on the visible and the invisible, on a tear created from the materials almost like a tear of the external layers, shifting from "skeleton to skin" , showing a wise poetic propriety of code extended in time. His pencil works are often composed by a structure multiplied by several sheets, containing an organized repertoire of information which makes up a single narration. He contributed, with his paintings, to a documentary: Sigmund Freud, The Great thinker, directed by Ferruccio Valerio, Il Centro storico, Milan 2007. He teaches Art and Painting in lower and upper Secondary school. From 1997 on, he collected an intense participation in group and solo exhibitions all over the national and international area, from Catania to Milan, from Venice to Lecce, Berlin and Bali (Indonesia). Among the latest we can mention the exhibition Il Paesaggio Interiore, 2014, at Scatolabianca Milan; the solo exhibition A Windsor, 2013, held at Palazzo Vernazza Lecce, curated by Martina Cavallarin and Massimo Guastella; the solo exhibition entitled Dialogo con Leonardo , 2011, held at the MAP (Mediterranean Museum of Present Art) in Brindisi; a participation after formal invitation to the exposition Pulsart in 2011, held in the area of industrial architecture of the woollen mill Conte di Schio (Vi) curated by Anna Z. Pezzin, and the participations to the three exhibitions Imprimatur, curated by Martina Cavallarin, respectively in Milan, Berlin and Lugano. He received many awards and Honours, including the most recent Premio Ora in 2013, special jury selection, San Donà di Piave (Ve); Mag Prize in 2011 (Milan Arte Giovane) Spaziarti, Milan 2nd prize; Premio Celeste, Brodbeck Establishment Catania in 2010; and still in 2010 he was finalist at both Premio Arte Laguna at Tese dell’Arsenale in Venice and at Premio di Pittura Zingarelli Rocca delle Macie. He lives and works between Milan and Brindisi.
